A prominent Iranian cleric has issued a religious ruling recognising Mojtaba Khamenei as an Islamic jurist, marking a notable endorsement within the country’s Shiite establishment.
Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani stated in a fatwa that Mojtaba Khamenei holds the status of a faqih, or Islamic legal scholar authorised to interpret religious law, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
The ruling also permits believers to channel religious donations to him. Such funds are typically used to support seminaries and students of Islamic theology.
