German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said that despite the conflict surrounding Iran, Germany’s supplies of gas, oil and kerosene remain secure, and there is no need to move into a “crisis mode.”
“Supplies of oil, gas and kerosene to Germany are secured. We can all rely on that. And that is excellent news. That is good news. Thank you to Katherina Reiche for today’s energy report to the cabinet,” Merz wrote on social media platform X, Caliber.Az reports.
At a cabinet meeting on May 13, Economy Minister Katherina Reiche presented a report on the current energy situation.
Government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius said Germany is feeling the impact of a global shortage of energy resources caused by disruptions to transport routes; however, there is no acute crisis in the country. He added that measures under antitrust legislation and market abuse controls are proving effective.
