On May 11, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said it has played a role in facilitating communication between the United States and Iran, as regional diplomatic activity intensifies amid broader geopolitical tensions.
The statement came after U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Islamabad Natalie A. Baker met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, discussions focused on the evolving regional situation and the state of Pakistan–US relations.
Dar, the ministry said, highlighted Islamabad’s role in enabling contact between Washington and Tehran, while expressing hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would help support “peace and stability in the region and beyond.”
He also welcomed continued US assistance in the repatriation of Pakistani and Iranian seafarers via Singapore, according to the statement.
