Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to continue the delimitation of their shared border from north to south, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced.
Pashinyan emphasized that a legal framework for the delimitation process is already in place, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“The Almaty Declaration was adopted as the primary guiding principle for delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, in accordance with the regulations on the joint activities of delimitation commissions, signed in August 2024 and ratified in October,” he explained.
“This means that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed that the existing boundary between Soviet Armenia and Soviet Azerbaijan should be re-registered as the state border between the two countries,” Pashinyan added.
He further noted that mutually acceptable solutions could be reached during the delimitation process, as outlined in the regulations.
The prime minister also highlighted that a published agreement already exists regarding the continuation of the process.
“We have an agreement that has already been published, stating that the delimitation will be carried out from north to south. Clearly, in the areas where delimitation has already taken place, the border must be fixed, and these processes should be conducted transparently within the logic of delimitation,” Pashinyan said.
