US President Donald Trump has described Iran’s response to a US proposal aimed at resolving the conflict as unacceptable.

“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called 'Representatives.' I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

In an interview with Axios, the US president also said he was dissatisfied with Tehran’s reply.

“I don't like their letter. It's inappropriate. I don't like their response,” the American leader stated.

Trump additionally confirmed that he held a phone conversation on May 10 with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which they discussed Iran’s response.

Axios noted that the US leader did not clarify whether he still expects negotiations with Tehran to continue or intends to abandon diplomacy in favour of military action.
