A new deputy defence minister has been appointed in Russia, according to an official statement from the Russian Defence Ministry.
Dmitry Shcherbinin was appointed to the post in line with a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the ministry said.
In his new role, Shcherbinin will oversee the ministry’s information systems department.
According to his official biography published on the ministry’s website, he served as an adviser to the defence minister from 2024 to 2025. He later headed the Main Directorate for Digital and Technological Development of the Defence Ministry from 2025 to 2026.
