Syria has opened a Consulate General in the Saudi city of Jeddah, in a move seen as another step toward strengthening diplomatic relations between Damascus and Riyadh.
The development was announced by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani on X, according to Caliber.Az.
Al-Shibani said the new consulate is intended to expand Syria’s consular presence and support the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The opening of the diplomatic mission reflects the ongoing process of gradual normalisation in relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia, following years of strained ties.
