The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) has been deployed to the Arabian Sea as part of expanded American maritime operations linked to tensions with Iran, according to a statement by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
In a post on X, CENTCOM said the carrier was operating in support of ongoing naval activity in the region, including enforcement of a naval blockade and the wider mission known as “Project Freedom,” aimed at securing shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, Caliber.Az reports.
“The carrier has more than 60 aircraft on board,” CENTCOM said.
According to CENTCOM, the mission includes a combination of guided-missile destroyers, carrier-based aircraft, and thousands of personnel operating across the region.
