Iraq has sent crude oil to Syria by road transport for the first time in 14 years.

A convoy of 70 tanker trucks carrying crude oil crossed the al-Yarubiyah border crossing and headed toward a refinery in the port of Banyas on the Mediterranean Sea, according to Syrian media.

The overland shipment comes as Baghdad seeks alternative export routes amid a maritime blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
