The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has reached a record level of support, standing at 28%.


According to results of a poll conducted by the INSA institute for the newspaper Bild, the party is now 4 percentage points ahead of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Chancellor Friedrich Merz, which has 24%.


The survey also shows 14% support for the Social Democrats, 12% for the Greens, and 11% for the Left Party. Other political forces remain below the 5% threshold required to enter the Bundestag.


The poll was conducted between April 20 and 24, involving 1,203 respondents. The AfD has been leading in most recent polling trends in Germany in recent weeks.
