A U.S. military task force carried out a lethal strike against a vessel linked to designated terrorist organizations in the Eastern Pacific, according to a statement from United States Southern Command.
The operation took place on April 24 under the direction of Francis L. Donovan, commander of the U.S. Southern Command, Caliber.Az reports.
Officials said Joint Task Force Southern Spear executed the strike after intelligence confirmed the vessel was actively involved in narco-trafficking operations.
According to the statement, the targeted vessel was traveling along known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific at the time of the strike. U.S. officials described the operation as a “lethal kinetic strike,” resulting in the deaths of two male individuals identified as narco-terrorists.
No U.S. personnel were injured during the mission.
