The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has accused the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire by attacking Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.
According to a statement published on the IDF’s Telegram channel, Hezbollah fired several rockets on April 21 at Israeli military positions south of the defensive line near the Rab Thalathin area in southern Lebanon.
In response, Israeli forces struck the launcher used to carry out the attack.
The IDF also addressed earlier reports about a possible false alarm, stating that sirens in the areas of Kfar Yuval and Ma'ayan Baruch were likely triggered by the interception of a drone launched from Lebanon toward Israeli territory.
“These launches constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement,” the statement said.
The escalation comes shortly after the first round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon on April 14. A 10-day ceasefire agreement was reached and came into force on April 17.
