An ambulance carrying a patient has plunged into a ravine in Türkiye’s north-eastern Artvin province, leaving one person dead and four others injured.
The accident occurred at around 05:06 local time in the Şavşat district, on the road to Çoraklı village, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
According to initial reports, the 112 emergency medical team had picked up a patient from Ilıca village and was returning when the vehicle lost control due to icy and snowy road conditions. The ambulance skidded off the road and fell approximately 30 metres into a ravine.
Following the alert, search and rescue teams, including AFAD, gendarmerie units, emergency medical crews, ŞAKUT (Şavşat Search and Rescue Association), and Şavşat municipal fire services, were dispatched to the scene.
Rescue teams worked in difficult terrain to reach the wreckage and evacuate those trapped inside.
One patient, identified as Serafettin Sancar, died at the scene. Three medical staff and one accompanying relative were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment after receiving initial medical attention at the site.
