Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Azerbaijan's accession as a full member of the Consultative Meetings of Central Asian heads of state marks a new phase in regional cooperation.
Speaking at an informal meeting of the leaders of Central Asia and Azerbaijan in Cholpon-Ata, Tokayev said the gathering provided an opportunity to discuss key regional issues and identify priorities for strengthening multilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
"Our informal meeting provides a good opportunity to discuss pressing issues on the agenda and to identify further priorities for our multilateral partnership," Tokayev said. "The intensity of contacts at all levels clearly confirms our states' shared commitment to constructive cooperation for the well-being of our brotherly peoples and the prosperity of the entire region."
Tokayev said Central Asia is experiencing its most successful period in modern history, attributing the progress to growing mutual trust and the steady development of regional cooperation.
He added that Azerbaijan's full membership in the Consultative Meetings represents a significant milestone.
"Through our joint efforts, we are creating the conditions for further deepening political dialogue, expanding cooperation in the fields of investment, energy and industry, and establishing a unified transport and logistics system," Tokayev said.
