Swiss Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Ignazio Cassis will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on August 4–5 in his capacity as Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Switzerland's Foreign Ministry announced.
During his visit, Cassis is scheduled to hold talks on bilateral relations, the peace process in the South Caucasus, and the role of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship in the region, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Following his visit to Azerbaijan, Cassis will travel to Turkmenistan as part of the same regional trip.
According to the Swiss Foreign Ministry, the visits to Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will mark the first leg of a broader regional tour, which is expected to continue in the autumn with visits to Armenia and Georgia.
