BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. On April 10, Prime
Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginienė visited the Icherisheher State
Historical-Architectural Reserve in Azerbaijan’s Baku, a site
recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, Trend reports.


During the tour, the Lithuanian prime minister was provided with
detailed information about the historic landmarks of Icherisheher,
as well as ongoing restoration, reconstruction, and improvement
efforts. It was noted that the area preserves unique architectural
monuments dating back to various centuries.


The guest also visited the Maiden Tower, where she was informed
that the monument was founded in the 7th-6th centuries BC and
restored in the 12th century. The structure stands at a height of
28 meters with a diameter of 16-16.5 meters.


She also toured the Bukhara Caravanserai, a 15th-century
architectural monument of national importance, located along the
ancient trade route, which once served as a refuge for Central
Asian merchants. The restoration of the site was carried out within
a large-scale initiative implemented under the directive of
President Ilham Aliyev, ensuring the preservation of its
architectural and engineering features.


Visitors were noted to have the opportunity to observe
traditional craftsmanship, explore the stages of creating national
art pieces, and purchase unique souvenirs.








During her visit, Inga Ruginienė was treated to traditional
tandoor bread.


The Lithuanian prime minister also visited the Palace of the
Shirvanshahs, a masterpiece of medieval Eastern architecture built
in the early 15th century. The complex is located at one of the
highest points of Icherisheher and remains a prominent historical
and architectural landmark overlooking the Caspian Sea.
