BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. From November 2020
to April 4, 2026, 259 landmine explosions have resulted in 72
deaths and 349 injuries in territories liberated from occupation,
the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told
Trend.
ANAMA stated that intensive demining operations carried out by
the agency and other organizations involved in humanitarian mine
clearance have successfully cleared 261,551 hectares of land,
uncovering and neutralizing 246,463 mines and unexploded
ordnance.
Alongside active demining efforts, areas with a high risk of
landmines and other explosive remnants are being temporarily fenced
off and conserved to protect civilians from potential hazards.
