ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 2. Kazakhstan and
Ukraine discussed prospects for developing trade and economic
cooperation, Trend
reports via the press service of the Prime Minister of
Kazakhstan.
This issue was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Prime
Minister – Minister of National Economy of the Republic of
Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on prospects for
expanding trade and economic cooperation, as well as on the
possible resumption of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade
and Economic Cooperation.
The parties noted that one of the key areas of bilateral
interaction remains the agro-industrial sector.
They also emphasized that dairy farms in several regions of
Kazakhstan have for several years cooperated with the Association
of Milk Producers of Ukraine in the supply of breeding dairy
cattle, as well as in improving the qualifications of Kazakh
specialists in the management of dairy farms.
At the same time, the diplomats noted that in 2025, trade
turnover between Kazakhstan and Ukraine amounted to $415.8 million,
which is 5.4% higher than in 2024 ($394.3 million). They added that
Kazakhstan’s main exports to Ukraine include ferroalloys,
fertilizers, rice, and other goods.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to intensify business
contacts, explore the resumption of the Intergovernmental
Commission, and expand cooperation in priority sectors, primarily
in the agro-industrial complex.
