ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 1. Turkmenistan
and Japan held discussions on enhancing interparliamentary
cooperation and advancing joint initiatives,
Trend reports via the press service of the Turkmen
Government.
The discussions took place during a meeting between
Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov and the
Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Parliamentary Friendship League,
Shinpei Matsushita, in Tokyo, on April 1.
The participants reviewed the progress of previously agreed
initiatives and explored key areas of future cooperation. Notably,
they discussed an initiative proposed by the National Leader of the
Turkmen people to convene an interparliamentary forum in the
"Central Asia + Japan" format in Ashgabat.
Additionally, the dialogue encompassed the expansion of
interparliamentary exchanges, the strengthening of ties between
political parties, and the continuation of high-level cooperation
across political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and
humanitarian domains.
Earlier, in March, Ambassador Bayramov and Japan’s State
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ayano Kunimitsu, held talks focused
on the implementation of bilateral agreements and the
identification of strategic areas for further cooperation. Their
discussions largely centered on the achievements made in fulfilling
the agreements reached during recent high-level visits.
The Turkmen delegation also expressed its readiness to
facilitate a visit by Japan’s Prime Minister to Turkmenistan at a
mutually convenient time.
