Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has suggested that the production of Patriot missiles under a US license for Ukraine could be located in Poland for security reasons.
Speaking to RMF FM radio, he said Poland should undertake the project jointly with Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.
"Poland should do this together with Ukraine," the minister noted.
He argued that such production should not be located "in a territory engulfed by war" and proposed Poland as a safer alternative for hosting the facility.
The proposal was presented to U.S. partners by Deputy Defence Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka during her visit to the United States in the second half of July.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said Washington would grant Kyiv a license to produce missiles for the Patriot air defence system.
Bloomberg previously reported that establishing interceptor missile production for Patriot systems in Ukraine would take considerable time and would not allow Kyiv to replenish its stockpiles quickly.
