The Israeli military said it carried out an overnight airstrike targeting an Iranian military helicopter at an airport in western Iran, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
In a statement released on March 19, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the Israeli Air Force struck an MI-17 helicopter belonging to the air arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to the statement, the aircraft was hit at Sanandaj Airport in Hamadan province during an operation conducted late on March 18, Caliber.Az reports.
The IDF said the strike was based on “precise real-time intelligence” and formed part of broader efforts to degrade the operational capabilities of the IRGC Air Force and expand Israeli aerial superiority in western Iran.
