A total of 1,873 people have been evacuated from Iran through the Azerbaijani border since the start of the U.S.-Israeli operation against the country on February 28.


The evacuees include citizens of 67 countries, Caliber.Az reports via local media.


Between 08:00 on February 28 and 10:00 on March 8, 309 Azerbaijani citizens also returned to the country.




On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran, carrying out airstrikes on cities across the republic. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced a large-scale retaliatory operation, targeting sites in Israel.


Strikes have also hit U.S. facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
