The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on 1 March that U.S. forces struck an Iranian Jamaran-class corvette near the Chah Bahar pier in the Gulf of Oman.


According to a social media post shared by the command, the strike marked the start of Operation Epic Fury.


“An Iranian Jamaran-class corvette was struck by U.S. forces during the start of Operation Epic Fury. The ship is currently sinking to the bottom of the Gulf of Oman at a Chah Bahar pier,” the post read.


CENTCOM also called on Iranian military personnel, the IRGC, and police to lay down their arms.
