The United States has denied reports claiming that diplomatic personnel were authorised to leave Iraq and Kuwait.

Deputy spokesperson for the US State Department, Tommy Pigott, rejected media claims on Friday that Washington had permitted junior embassy staff and their family members to depart the two countries.

According to Caliber.Az, Pigott issued the denial in a statement published on the social network X.

"Earlier this morning,  @i24NEWS_EN reported that the State Department authorised the immediate evacuation of non-essential personnel from Iraq and Kuwait, based on a report from another outlet. The info was wrong. We have taken this claim down, as has the original source," he wrote.
