A serious traffic accident occurred in Türkiye city of Çanakkale, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to one.
The incident took place around 02:30 on the Çanakkale–Lapseki highway, Caliber.Az reports, citing CNN Turk.
The car, whose driver reportedly ignored a police “stop” warning and attempted to flee, entered the oncoming lane and collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
Emergency crews, police, gendarmerie, and firefighters arrived at the scene. Medical teams confirmed five fatalities. One injured person was taken to the hospital; their condition is being clarified.
An investigation into the accident has been launched.
