Ladd Howell, captain of the US national kok-boru team, a traditional horse game, met Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov during the president’s visit to Utah.

Howell presented Japarov with a cowboy hat and the jersey he wore at the most recent World Nomad Games, he said in a social media post, Caliber.Az reports.

The American athlete thanked the president for supporting cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the United States and spoke about his passion for kok-boru and Kyrgyzstan.

Howell said he was introduced to kok-boru about eight years ago. Since then, he has travelled to Kyrgyzstan several times, competed in international tournaments and formed friendships with athletes from different countries.
