Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said that Ukrainian attacks during Russia’s elections were intended to disrupt the voting but failed to achieve that objective.
Speaking at a media forum of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), Peskov also said that fake news and information warfare would continue to intensify amid the current global situation.
“This will require enormous efforts from all news agencies around the world to combat this and, against the backdrop of these dirty information flows, preserve their professional approach and the benchmark level of information accuracy,” Peskov said.
Commenting on prospects for a settlement of the Ukraine conflict, Peskov said there had been no progress so far, including regarding the possible resumption of trilateral negotiations.
“No, there has been no progress,” he said in response to a question on the issue.
Peskov added that “massive attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the elections in Russia were an attempt to disrupt the voting, but they had no effect.”
