Kanye West has removed St. Petersburg from the list of dates on his concert schedule, according to Russian media.
The Yeezy Tour website currently lists performances in Jakarta, Indonesia, as well as Houston, Dallas and Phoenix. St. Petersburg was still included in the schedule until September 18, "Ostorozhno, Novosti" Telegram channel reports.
West’s concerts in St. Petersburg were initially announced by Say Agency, which said the rapper would perform at Gazprom Arena on October 10 and 11.
Gazprom Arena also announced the concerts and ticket sales on August 17. However, on August 24, the venue said it had not signed an agreement to host the performances and that the concerts would therefore not take place there.
Say Agency subsequently disputed the cancellation, saying the concerts had not been called off. According to the agency, Gazprom Arena had previously approved an official letter concerning the shows, while a lease agreement for the venue had not yet been signed.
The removal of St. Petersburg from West’s tour schedule now comes amid the unresolved dispute over whether the concerts would take place at the arena.
Kanye West, whose real name is Kanye Omari West and who officially changed his name to Ye in 2021, is an American rapper, music producer, songwriter, designer and entrepreneur. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in 21st-century hip-hop.
