Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on September 16 attended the opening of the 100-megawatt Gobustan solar power plant in Baku’s Garadagh district.

Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei and Yi Nan, Chief Executive Officer of Universal International Holdings Limited, welcomed the president at the ceremony, Caliber.Az reports per state media.

Aliyev was briefed on the Gobustan solar power plant, Universal Energy and the company’s activities in Azerbaijan. Under a decision adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers in 2023, a 300.77-hectare plot of land in the Pirsaat settlement of Baku’s Garadagh district was designated for the construction of a solar power plant.
