American boxer Ryan Garcia successfully defended his WBC welterweight world title for the first time.
In Las Vegas, Garcia defeated Britain’s Conor Benn by technical knockout in the second round.
Benn was knocked down by a right cross from Garcia but managed to continue the fight. However, the referee stopped the bout with Benn against the ropes at the 1:25 mark of the second round.
The victory marked the first title defense for the 28-year-old Garcia. Immediately after the win, he called out WBA champion Teofimo Lopez for a fight.
