Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, during which they discussed efforts to resolve the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on Saudi Arabia, a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry told TASS.

The talks focused on contacts regarding the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing negotiations aimed at ending the clashes in the region. The two ministers also exchanged views on the attacks on Saudi Arabia, the source said.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued an official statement in which it “strongly condemned the drone strikes carried out from Iraqi territory against Saudi Arabia.”

“We reaffirm our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia and highly appreciate the restrained approach of the Saudi authorities aimed at preventing an escalation of tensions in the region. We welcome the Iraqi government’s condemnation of these attacks and its decision to immediately launch an investigation to shed light on the incident and identify those responsible,” the ministry said in the statement.
