A potential US operation against the Houthi movement would require Washington to deploy significant military resources and further deplete American weapons stocks, according to an assessment published by Reuters.
According to US officials, a campaign against the Houthis would require substantial naval and air assets, as well as the redeployment of US intelligence resources, given the need to locate Houthi positions, which have changed since last year.
If US Navy ships and aircraft were required to begin intercepting Houthi drones and missiles, this could further deplete American stocks of weapons and interceptor missiles, the agency emphasized.
“It would also be another burden for the U.S. military,” the report added.
One of the officials denied that the US was concerned about its resources being stretched thin. “The United States Military has more than enough munitions, ammo, and stockpiles to serve all of the Commander-in-Chief’s strategic goals and beyond,” the official said.
