BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. Azerbaijan and
Vietnam’s ROX Energy Global have discussed the implementation of
renewable energy projects, including a 200 MW wind power project
and a potential solar energy initiative in Nakhchivan.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, the
discussions took place during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Energy
Minister Parviz Shahbazov and ROX Energy Global CEO Pham Minh
Tuan.
The sides reviewed issues related to the development of a 200 MW
wind power project in Azerbaijan, including site selection,
preparation of a feasibility study and conducting wind
measurements.
The meeting also included discussions on the possibility of
implementing a solar energy project in Nakhchivan.
It was noted that renewable energy projects in Nakhchivan are
being developed in line with the region’s “Green Energy Zone”
concept and Azerbaijan’s plans to expand green energy exports.
The sides exchanged views on potential sites for the solar
project, integration into the energy system and the
commercialization of generated electricity.
The meeting also highlighted ongoing efforts to connect
Nakhchivan with Azerbaijan’s main energy system, as well as the
creation of the Nakhchivan-Türkiye electricity link. The strategic
importance of developing infrastructure that would enable
electricity exports from Nakhchivan to Türkiye was emphasized.
In 2025, the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy and ROX Group signed a Memorandum
of Understanding on cooperation in the renewable energy sector.
