BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. Cooperation
between China’s Lianyungang Port, Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) and
Baku Port is expanding as the partners seek to develop a stable,
efficient and competitive Trans-Caspian logistics chain,
Lianyungang Port representative Jiang Wei said, Trend's correspondent reports
from the event.
He made the remark during a speech titled “Regional Cooperation
and Resilient Partnerships” at an international conference on “The
Role of Ports in Regional Connectivity and Strategic Cooperation”
held within the framework of the Conference on Interaction and
Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
He noted that, based on existing cooperation, the partners aim
to transform the Lianyungang–Aktau–Baku route into an efficient
Trans-Caspian logistics product. “Subject to data security
requirements and compliance with national legislation, Lianyungang
Port is ready to work with Azerbaijan Railways, Baku Port and other
partners to establish a Trans-Caspian logistics data chain
connecting ports, Khorgos, Aktau and Baku, starting with key areas
such as the exchange of transportation data,” Jiang Wei said.
According to him, container transshipment volumes along the
Trans-Caspian International Transport Route through Aktau Port
increased from 16,400 TEU in 2023 to 65,300 TEU in 2025. “In
January-July 2026, this figure reached 41,800 TEU, representing an
18% increase compared with the same period last year. This shows
that Trans-Caspian transportation is moving beyond the stage of
being merely a transit route and is becoming a larger-scale, more
efficient and faster logistics system,” he said.
Jiang Wei emphasized that this development places higher
requirements on coordination between logistics hubs and the
exchange of information.
He added that strengthening digital cooperation among ports and
transport operators would contribute to improving the efficiency
and competitiveness of the Trans-Caspian route.
