The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Youssef Akilah, a company commander in Hamas’ Nukhba unit, was eliminated in a strike in Gaza City.
The IDF spokesperson said the strike was carried out on September 6 and targeted Akilah, who served as a commander in the Nukhba unit of Hamas’ military wing.
"Recently, the terrorist advanced terror plots against IDF forces and Israeli citizens and worked to restore the organization's capabilities, while systematically violating the ceasefire. The terrorist was eliminated to remove the threat. Prior to the strike, measures were taken to minimize harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance," the IDF said.
The military added that its forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operating to address immediate threats.
