Iranian Intelligence Ministry personnel have dismantled three operational cells belonging to terrorist groups and detained nine militants who were attempting to enter the country.

According to the ministry, during clashes with security forces, three terrorists were killed, while nine other militants who had received military and sabotage training abroad were detained, Caliber.Az reports, citing Tasnim.

Authorities said the detainees had planned to destabilise the situation and carry out sabotage attacks in southern Iran. Weapons and ammunition were seized from them.

The intelligence services also discovered a cache containing light and small arms that had been illegally smuggled into Iran.
