Lieutenant General Norat Ter-Grigoryants, a veteran of the Soviet and Armenian armed forces and one of the proponents of establishing a Russian military presence in Armenia, says he has renounced his Armenian citizenship.

As Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media, Ter-Grigoryants made the statement in an interview, saying he had surrendered his Armenian passport and subsequently received notification from the presidential office that he had been deprived of citizenship.

“I surrendered my passport and received a message from your presidential [office — ed.]: ‘You have been deprived of citizenship.’ Well, goodbye, my dear ones. I will never come to Armenia again. That’s all,” he said.
