China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Ground Force sent personnel to Russia on September 7 to participate in demining exercises.

The drills will run through September 12 and are being held as part of an expert working group under the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus), TASS reports.

The exercises involve the armed forces of several countries and are aimed at improving their ability to restore security in areas contaminated by explosive hazards. Participants will practice mechanical demining, the use of mine-detection dogs and the neutralisation of improvised explosive devices.

The drills are intended to facilitate the exchange of experience, strengthen participating countries’ demining capabilities, and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
