Representatives of the US National Security Council, State Department and Treasury Department accompanied US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner during their visit to Moscow on September 5, Axios reports, citing a White House official.
The US administration official said Washington expects the US delegation to hold “equally productive meetings” in Kyiv on September 6.
According to the outlet, the delegation included Gene Lange, acting US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury. “Lange's participation indicates that U.S. sanctions against Russia were part of the discussions,” the report added.
The talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin lasted nearly three hours. Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev also took part in the meeting. Ushakov described the talks as “highly useful.”
