Slovakia will summon Russia’s ambassador in Bratislava following a Russian drone strike on the headquarters of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) in Kyiv, located near the consular section of the Slovak Embassy.
Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár strongly condemned the September 4 attack, saying the consular section was operating on a limited basis for security reasons and that no staff were present when the strike occurred, Caliber.Az reports.
“We strongly condemn today’s Russian jet-powered drone attack on the building of the Security Service of Ukraine,” Blanár said on X, adding that he had instructed officials to summon the Russian ambassador.
He also called on Russia to refrain from actions that could endanger civilians and urged both Moscow and Kyiv to avoid further escalation, saying it would increase tensions and hinder efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The SBU headquarters was struck by a Russian drone in central Kyiv on September 4. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the drone was aimed at the office of acting SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad.
Zelenskyy said he had spoken with Poklad following the attack and instructed him to prepare an “appropriate, tangible response.” Ukrainian authorities said the strike caused injuries and heavy smoke at the site.
