U.S. President Donald Trump said he does not believe Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to attack NATO territory.


Asked about the possibility of Russia attacking a NATO member, Trump said he knew Putin well and did not believe the Russian leader had such intentions, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.


“I don’t think that Putin will be. I speak to him. I know him very well. Putin’s not looking to attack NATO territory,” Trump said.


Trump was also asked about a drone incident at Leipzig Airport in early August, which Germany had attributed to Russia. The journalist referred to Trump’s previous pledge that Russia would not attack NATO territory under his leadership.


Trump reiterated that he did not believe Moscow was seeking to attack NATO territory.
