German Chancellor Friedrich Merz faced protests from a group of residents in the state of Saxony-Anhalt during his visit ahead of the state election, with residents chanting “Get out!”, the Bild reports.
The report said that, as part of his trip, Merz held closed-door talks with representatives of his Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
After the event, he did not meet with residents and left the building by car.
Those gathered outside saw him off with chants of “Get out!” expressing their dissatisfaction with him.
The Saxony-Anhalt state parliament election is scheduled for September 6.
