An Israeli citizen has been charged with security offences after an investigation by the Shin Bet and police found that he had allegedly been operated by foreign intelligence elements and was involved in foreign influence activity.
Israel’s Central District Prosecutor’s Office filed the indictment at the Central District Court in Lod, Ynet reports.
According to details authorised for publication by the court, the man was arrested for questioning on suspicion of security offences.
The investigation found that he had been operated by foreign intelligence elements against the State of Israel, authorities said.
Prosecutors have also asked the court to keep the defendant in custody until the end of the proceedings.
