Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for closer cooperation among the intelligence and security agencies of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, citing the increasingly complex international situation.
“Today, in the context of a challenging international situation, it is important to continue developing and improving the forms and methods of cooperation between your agencies in combating common external threats,” Putin said.
His remarks were contained in a message read by Igor Rudenya, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, at the opening of the 22nd Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Security Agencies and Intelligence Services of the CIS Member States in Strelna.
Putin stressed the need to further develop existing mechanisms of cooperation between the agencies in order to address common external threats.
