A Russian drone struck an aircraft at Kyiv’s Zhuliany Airport, Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko has claimed, shortly before a US delegation was expected to travel to the Ukrainian capital.
Honcharenko said the strike targeted an aircraft at the airport, alleging that Russian forces carried out the attack using a drone.
“Witkoff and Kushner were supposed to arrive in Kyiv on Sunday after visiting Moscow on Saturday. The most interesting thing about this proposal is that they were supposed to arrive in Boryspil by plane. This was at the coordination stage. The Americans had doubts, but they were quite close to agreeing. And just a few minutes ago, the Russians struck an aircraft in Zhuliany with a drone,” he wrote.
According to Honcharenko, the aircraft hit in the strike was a Soviet-made Yak-40, a model that had ceased operating before Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
