Tourists who visited Azerbaijan from January through July 2026 spent approximately 1.553 billion manats ($914.09 million) in the country, down 18.3%, or 349.0351 million manats ($205.32 million), compared with the same period last year, according to the State Statistics Committee.
The statistics showed the largest share of tourist spending was on recreation and entertainment, amounting to 989.3968 million manats ($581.998 million), a 23% decline from the same period last year, Caliber.Az reports.
Tourists spent 343.3558 million manats ($201.974 million) for business purposes, down 9.4%, while spending on visits to relatives and friends totalled 189.842 million manats ($111.672 million), down 6.8%.
Among tourists from individual countries, Russian citizens spent the most during the reporting period, at 492.0258 million manats ($289.427 million), down 7.9%.
They were followed by tourists from Türkiye, who spent 177.4125 million manats ($104.360 million), down 10.4%, and Kazakhstan, at 84.9955 million manats ($49.997 million), up 2.1%.
Tourists from Israel spent 80.178 million manats ($47.164 million), marking a 56.7% increase, while those from India spent 71.6192 million manats ($42.129 million), a 3.4-fold decline.
As previously reported, 1.3426 million tourists visited Azerbaijan from January through July 2026, down 9.2% from the corresponding period of 2025.
