Moscow is preparing a response to Germany’s decision to close the Russian House in Berlin and Russia’s Consulate General in Bonn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
“Both the Russian House and our consulate general in Bonn have long been a thorn in the side of the ruling elite. Now they have come up with a pretext. Well then, they will receive a worthy response,” Zakharova told local media.
She accused Berlin of deliberately escalating bilateral tensions without providing convincing evidence to justify the closures.
“Under an absolutely far-fetched and contrived pretext, Berlin has once again chosen to escalate bilateral relations,” Zakharova said. “As usual, no convincing or serious evidence has been presented. It simply does not exist and cannot exist!”
Zakharova also accused Germany of contributing to the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and alleged its involvement in terrorist attacks.
She said Moscow would respond to what she described as all anti-Russian decisions taken by Berlin.
