The 65th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement is being marked in Belgrade, with Azerbaijan represented by Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova at a high-level ceremonial meeting.

The event is being held at the Palace of Serbia in the Serbian capital, according to Azerbaijani news agency Report.

Gafarova is leading Azerbaijan’s delegation, which is part of the Non-Aligned Movement’s “troika” of chairpersons.

Participants are discussing the movement’s historical legacy, its core principles and its role in the contemporary system of international relations.

The anniversary meeting comes as the Non-Aligned Movement continues to serve as a forum for developing countries on issues including sovereignty, independence and international cooperation.
