A participant in the war in Ukraine urged schoolchildren in Krasnoyarsk to learn how the Kalashnikov works, invoking a well-known quote about making the whole world speak Russian, according to independent media outlet TV Rain.
In a video released by local publication Prospekt Mira, the man can be seen speaking at the September 1 ceremony at Lyceum No. 11 in Krasnoyarsk, although his identity was not disclosed.
“As one politician said, ‘To make the whole world speak Russian, learn how the Kalashnikov works.’ Once again, happy holiday to everyone. Victory will be ours,” the man said, quoting Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the late leader of Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR).
TV Rain identified the speaker as Alexander Andreyevich Klaus, a participant in the war in Ukraine who uses the call sign “Ascetic.” According to Russian media reports, Klaus regularly takes part in patriotic events for schoolchildren and young people.
For example, in October 2025, he spoke at a forum for students in Krasnoyarsk’s Central District. Klaus urged young people to sign military contracts after completing mandatory service and go to war, calling such a decision a “heroic act.” He also took part in a “Lesson of Courage” at the Krasnoyarsk Cooperative College of Economics, Commerce and Law. The event was dedicated to the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland.
Klaus has said that he voluntarily joined the “Black Leopard” detachment and signed a contract in August 2023. According to him, he took part in assaults near Avdiivka, Pisky and Vodiane, serving as a machine gunner and medic. After suffering a concussion and a severe arm injury, Klaus returned to Krasnoyarsk, but in 2025 said he wanted to return to the war, either as a medic or machine gunner.
