Iranian border guards have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of weapons into the country’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province in an operation that involved an armed clash, Tasnim reports, citing Iranian border guards.
The report said security forces seized 22 pistols, four hunting rifles, two combat grenades and 13 magazines.
The smugglers used the mountainous terrain to escape into the border area.
Efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.
